Recently, I was just working on writing a post about - the problem with funded tech products. And had to do some thorough research, since it was new for me.
But I started liking what I Learned and now I am here, found you.
And have to say, great content.
Anyways.
The 1 thing that I have realized so far is:
Cash can buy installs.
It can’t buy product-market fit.
And it definitely can’t buy back user trust once it’s lost.
100%. Thanks so much for taking the time to read my content. I'm glad you find it helpful. Always looking for new topics to write about so feel free to DM me anytime.
And this is how you know if a piece of advice comes from a book or from experience.
People who gained their startup experience from Substack or from watching Sillicon Valley will tell you how much you need to research, do A/B testing and make data driven decisions.
People that actually did the grind will tell you that time, data and money is a luxury.
Research and testing is a tool for making sure you don't do the wrong move. But safety comes at a high price both in terms of financials and time. As a startup, you will have to make at least a few hard decisions WITHOUT that safety, before earning the luxury of doing your homework and sleeping well at night.
This short post packed a lot of truth into a few concise phrases and observations. A perfectly expressed hard truth (any shorter and it would become a haiku!) - and one that not only people trying to launch a company can absorb and benefit from. Thank you, Martin!
Love the post.

Love this: "Build for who'll pay you tomorrow. Not some imaginary persona named Ryan who ‘likes artisanal coffee and SaaS dashboards" 😆
ryan’s too busy brewing his pour over to buy your product anyway
This is such a brave thing to say!

thanks and yes data driven decisions are great… once you have customers to give you data
“Cash is like makeup. It hides all the blemishes until it runs out” It’s just like this

Hard truths land best when they’re short enough to tattoo on your brain.
